XIII INTERNATIONAL TRADE FAIR
POWER ENGINEERING FOR INDUSTRY – 2015

September 22-24, 2015 were the dates of the key Ukrainian energy sector event – the XIII International Forum "Fuel and Energy Complex of Ukraine: the Present and the Future" and the XIII International Trade Fair "Power Engineering for Industry – 2015".

The opening ceremony of the XIII International Forum "Fuel and Energy Complex of Ukraine: the Present and the Future" and the XIII International Trade Fair "Power Engineering for Industry – 2015" was attended by the Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Volodymyr Demchyshyn, Representative of the President of Ukraine Oleksandr Danyluk, Advisor to the Prime Minister of Ukraine Kostyantyn Uschapovskyy, Head of the State Energy Efficiency Agency Sergiy Savchuk, Head of the Secretariat of the Committee on Fuel and Energy Complex, Nuclear Policy and Nuclear Safety of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleg Dudkin, First Vice President of UMB Sergiy Prokhorov, General Director of International Exhibition Center Anatoly Tkachenko.

In his opening speech Vladimir Demchyshyn welcomed the participants of the event and stressed that energy sector is the key driver of the national economy which will ensure its future sustainable development. The Minister said that the trade fair "Power Engineering for Industry – 2015" demonstrates achievements in innovative technologies and production of power equipment, has a great practical usefulness for all participants of the energy market and facilitates speedy modernization and technological upgrade of industrial producers.

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko in his greeting read by Oleksandr Danyluk emphasized that "Forum is an excellent opportunity to realize our aspirations, to demonstrate achievements, to discuss new ideas and interest of potential partners that will attract investments and ensure recognition of Ukraine as a worthy member of the European energy community".

Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk in his address to participants and guests of the forum and trade fair which was read by Kostyantyn Uschapovskyy stressed that "it is the time to solve the important issues of energy resources' saving and diversification of their sources of supply, modernization of energy infrastructure, increasing energy efficiency and attracting new investments in the sector. With our joined efforts, we can overcome all the adversities and build a strong, successful country".

Oleg Dudkin conveyed greetings of the Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman, which stated that the extremely important task is strengthening state energy security, creating a legal framework for further effective work and adapting the Ukrainian legislation to EU norms with the goal of sustainable development of the energy sector.

Head of the State Energy Efficiency Agency Sergiy Savchuk in his speech noted the growing interest of investors to the Ukrainian energy sector and drew attention to the achievements in substitution of use of natural gas.

After the opening ceremony the distinguished guests visited the exposition of the XIII International Trade Fair "Power Engineering for Industry – 2015". Following the review Volodymyr Demchyshyn said: "After visiting the exhibition, I am absolutely convinced in the correctness of my welcoming speech message: indeed, energy sector is the engine of economic development of Ukraine. We must work hard to make the international community consider us not only as recipients of technologies, but as equal participants of the market. We have got enough technologies to keep the export potential of Ukraine".

This year, in the context of constantly rising prices for basic energy resources and significant economic dependence on foreign energy supplies, the forum and the trade fair have gained special importance and relevance for many Ukrainian companies. The event joined efforts of the government and business, science and industry in overcoming crisis signs in the energy sector, identifying ways to increase domestic energy resources extraction and production, diversifying external and internal sources of energy supply, introducing highly efficient technologies and equipment for energy production, transportation, distribution and consumption.

XIII International Trade Fair "Power Engineering for Industry – 2015" featuring this year 111 participants presented energy saving technologies, Ukrainian and foreign innovations in power, electrical, lighting equipment and appliances, automated energy management systems for electric, nuclear, thermal power, industrial manufacturing sector. In addition, coal and oil & gas industry technologies and equipment were presented at the trade fair (12% and 14% of participants accordingly).

Participation of 12 foreign companies from 7 countries (Belgium, China, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Slovakia) had demonstrated their interest in cooperation with Ukrainian companies, as well as the intention to join the process of technological renewal of the country energy sector.

The confirmation of the consistent and constant partnership policy of Germany to Ukraine and its support in carrying out the important reforms in Ukrainian energy sector was the decision of the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy of Germany to include "Power Engineering for Industry – 2015" into Foreign Trade Fairs Participation Program with Germany presentation stand.

Of interest to visitors and important in terms of transfer of modern technologies were exhibition booths of Technetics Group (France - USA) - developer and manufacturer of advanced sealing solutions for nuclear power, and V4 SIE association - Visegrad countries group of manufactures and suppliers of power equipment. It was nice to note special attention to presented technologies from the side of the Ukrainian Minister of Energy Volodymyr Demchyshyn and the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation between NNEGC Energoatom in the person of its President Yuriy Nedashkovsky and V4 SIE association in the person of its coordinator Peter Klokner. The latter can be considered as a significant event that determine the European direction of Ukraine energy sector development.

Thoroughly works in the field of attracting investments, consulting and support of new projects in the energy sector the new trade fair participant - LLC "Ukrteploenergo" (Kyiv), which exhibition booth was of high attendance, inclusive foreign visitors.
Their own developments and achievements in the electrical industry which are important and relevant for modernization of energy system of Ukraine and its adaption to EU standards, presented the leaders of the Ukrainian market: PJSC "ZTR" (Zaporizhzhya), LLC "STC ENPASELECTRO" (Kyiv), LLC "Enterprise "Tavrida Electric Ukraine" (Kyiv), LLC "Kharkiv Electrotechnical Factory "Energomira" (Kharkiv), PJSC "Ensto Ukraine" (Kyiv), LLC "Sicame Ukraine" (Kyiv), others exhibitors.

Power engineering sector was represented by well - established Ukrainian producers from different regions of Ukraine: JSC "Motor Sich" (Zaporizhzhya), LLC "Kotloturboprom" (Kharkiv), JSC "Sumy plant "Nasosenergomash" (Sumy), PJSC "TMM - Energobud" (Kyiv), PJSC "Nova Kakhovka Plant "Ukrhydromech" (Nova Kakhovka), ALC "Pervomaiskdieselmash" (Pervomaisk, Mykolaiv region), LLC "Pridneprovsky experimental mechanical plant" (Dnipropetrovsk), PJSC "Promarmatura" (Dnipropetrovsk). Ukrainian representative of the world famous company Siemens, DP "Siemens Ukraine" (Kyiv) this year have focused on small - scale steam turbines for biomass power plants - energy sector, which has significant growth potential in Ukraine.

The direction of control and automation in energy sector was traditionally headed by innovative Ukrainian companies PJSC "RPE "Radiy" (Kirovograd) and PJSC "RPA "Impulse" (Severodonetsk) which developments for nuclear power are known and used in many countries. Besides, control & automation technologies and systems were presented by LLC "Program and Technical Systems" (Kharkiv), LLC "SPE EOS" (Kharkiv), LLC "Compyu - trade" (PROKSYS™, Kyiv).

The high level of attention of trade fair visitors - power engineers of various industries, was drawn to energy - saving materials by LLC "SPC "Heatanticorrprotection" (Severodonetsk), LLC "Ukrteploceramic" (Kharkiv), PJSC "Chasivoyarskyy Refractory Plant" (Chasiv Yar), and heat power equipment utilizing alternative fuels by LLC "Stropuva - Ukraine" (Kyiv), LLC "Agrotorgpostach" (TM LOGITERM) (Kyiv), LLC "Kotlozavod "Kriger" (Zhytomyr). The latter presented innovative cogeneration power plants based on the principle of ORC (Organic Rankine Cycle), which are common for Germany, Austria, Italy, but new for Ukraine.

Highly important segment of technologies and equipment for oil & gas and mining industries was presented at the exhibition boothes of Ukrainian producers: PJSC "Elmiz" (Kyiv), LLC "RPA "Red Metalist" (Konotop), LLC "RPA "Svitlo Shakhtaria" (Kharkiv), LLC "SPE "Orion" (Kharkiv), LLC "Hardoks" (Kyiv), LLC "TRIZ" (Sumy) and other, foreign participants Anshan Anza Electronic Power Ltd. (China), Armatury Group a.s. and P.K. Invest s.r.o. (Czech Republic) within V4 SIE association, national companies SE "Coal of Ukraine", SE "SEC "Coal innovation" (Kyiv), specialized project, research and educational institutions: Coal Energy Technologies Institute of NAS of Ukraine (Kyiv), Gas Institute of NAS of Ukraine (Kyiv), SE "Naukanaftogaz", NJSC "Naftogaz of Ukraine" (Kyiv), National Mining University (Dnipropetrovsk).

Sectoral exposition "Fuel and Energy sector of Ukraine" presented achievements of the national fuel and energy sector companies, strategic development prospects of certain sectors and plans for modernization and reconstruction of energy sector by the following areas: nuclear power, hydropower, thermal power, electric power transmission and distribution, oil and gas, coal industries.

The exposition was attended by energy resources production, energy generation and supply companies: SE NPC "Ukrenergo" with its' individual entities (Main Data Processing Center and Vinnytsiaelectrotekhnologiya), PJSC "Ukrhydroenergo", NNEGC "Energoatom" with its' subdivisions (Rivne NPP, Khmelnytska NPP, South - Ukraine NPP, Zaporizhzhya NPP, Atomenergomash, Automation & Engineering, Emergency and Technical Center), SC "Nuclear Fuel", SE "Eastern Mining and Processing Plant", SE "Coal of Ukraine", PJSC "Khmelnytskoblenergo", PJSC "Donbasenergo", PJSC "Ukrnafta" and others.
For three days the trade fair was visited by more than 3,500 visitors.

Business program covered a wide range of energy sector issues. Conferences, seminars, round tables focused experts' attention at questions of reforming the structure of the fuel and energy sector of Ukraine, increasing energy security level, attracting investments, ensuring effective functioning of energy system, modernization and technical re - equipment.

Business program events were attended by top officials of the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine, well-known energy sector professionals, scientists, state and public figures, foreign experts, top management of national and private energy companies, power engineering and electrical equipment producers, representatives of international investment and financial institutions.

In particular, on September 22, Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Volodymyr Demchyshyn, US Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey R. Pyatt, Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine Yan Tombiński, diplomat Oleksandr Chaly, former Energy Minister of Lithuania Arvydas Sekmokas, Development Director of NJSC "Naftogaz of Ukraine" Yuriy Vitrenko, People's Deputy of Ukraine Nataliya Katser - Buchkovska and other respected experts took part in the panel discussion "Energy Diplomacy: Ukrainian context", round table "Ukraine and European Energy Union. Possible configurations of relationship", and the First International Investment Conference: "Energy sector of Ukraine: reaching the 2020 goals".

Another remarkable event this day was the VIII International Hydropower Engineers Conference. While its opening the Ukrainian Energy and Coal Industry Minister Volodymyr Demchyshyn expressed the opinion that hydropower sector of Ukraine has been expecting a new phase of development, and the Deputy Minister Oleksandr Svetelik noted that power engineering machine - building production is widely used exactly in hydropower and stressed "Boost machine - building - Boost the economy".

Besides, on September 22 the scientific conference "Primary areas of Ukraine's coal sector reform" was held. It was devoted to the issues of coal industry functioning, introduction of systematic measures on mined coal volume increase, transition of coal industry to unsubsidized and self-standing operation mode.

September 22-23, the II All-Ukrainian Power Engineers Workshop was held. The event is a unique platform for building up professional partnership, collaboration and cooperation between fuel & energy and industrial sector companies. On today's stage of national economy reform, most manufacturing companies in Ukraine seek to maintain their production outputs by the way of lowering production, and in the first turn – energy consumption, expenses. This can be done through modernization and upgrading of power equipment and energy management systems, implementation of energy saving technologies. That is why nowadays the All - Ukrainian Power Engineers Workshop has gained special importance and value. Direct interaction with trade fair participants enable industrial power engineers to get acquainted with the latest achievements in effective energy supply, consumption and management.

The Workshop was framed of 4 thematic sections:
1. Council board with participation of representatives of energy sector and industrial companies on cooperation in procurement of electric and power equipment for reconstruction, modernization, construction of power generating facilities and power grids.
2. Renewable energy sector: legislative changes and development opportunities.
3. Energy efficiency of industrial companies. Practical solutions on realization of energy saving potential: technologies, equipment.
4. Directive 2012/27/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 25 October 2012 on energy efficiency. Energy audit, energy management and energy service.

September 23 during the round table "Reforming the electricity market of Ukraine" headed by Deputy Minister Oleksandr Svetelik, the final edition of the draft law "On Electricity Market" was presented. Traditionally, the Ministry together with NNEGC "Energoatom" held "Nuclear Power Day" in the form of three panel discussions: "Nuclear power and climate change", "Electricity market: European experience and prospects of nuclear power generation", "Priorities of nuclear power: tactics and strategy". Besides, investment business game "New nuclear units. Who's first?" was organized by the Ukrainian Nuclear Society. The Nuclear Power Day was attended by Head of Nuclear energy and nuclear industry department of the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Sergiy Ermak, President of NNEGC "Energoatom" Yuriy Nedashkovsky, Chairman of the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine Sergiy Bozhko. The speakers were Chairman of the World Association of Nuclear Operators Jacques Regaldo, Director General of the European Atomic Forum Jean - Pol Poncelet, representative of Westinghouse Electric Eva Gustavsson and others.

September 24 the conference "Reforms in the oil and gas sector" was held consisted of two sections: "The reform of the natural gas market" and "Energy security and development strategy for the oil and gas sector of Ukraine". Other business events this day were the XIII scientific - practical conference "Occupational health and safety in coal industry" and round table "Emergency preparedness and crisis management at Fuel and Energy Complex facilities. Problems and solutions".
