REPORT ON THE RESULTS OF
THE XVI INTERNATIONAL TRADE FAIR
POWER ENGINEERING FOR INDUSTRY '2018

XVI International Trade Fair "Power Engineering for Industry '2018" that took place within the framework of the International Forum "Fuel and Energy Complex of Ukraine: the Present and the Future" in the International Exhibition Center on November 6‑8, successfully completed its work.
Event's organizers are the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine and International Exhibition Center.
This year's trade fair once again confirmed its status of the main sector event in Ukraine, bringing together the key domestic and foreign players of the power and electrical market at the same place.
Together with the trade fair "Power Engineering for Industry '2018" the International trade fairs "ELECTRO INSTALL", "Energy Efficiency. Renewable Energy", "OILGASEXPO" and "MINING INDUSTRY EXPO" were held.
The powerful demonstration platform with the area of more than 12,000 sq.m represented a wide range of products for all sections of the infrastructure chain: extraction, generation, transmission, distribution and consumption of energy resources. 349 exhibitors, including 67 foreign companies, from 17 countries (Austria, Belarus, China, Czech Republic, France, Georgia, Germany, Italy, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Monaco, Netherlands, Poland, Turkey, Ukraine, USA, Uzbekistan) presented their technologies, equipment and devices.
More than 8700 visitors from Ukraine and 39 countries were registered during the events.
On November 6 in the opening ceremony of the XVI International Forum "Fuel and Energy Complex of Ukraine: the Present and the Future" and the International trade fairs the following guests took part:
- Deputy Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Yulia Pidkomorna;
- State Secretary of the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Maksim Nemchinov;
- President of the Association "SIGRE‑Ukraine" Oleksandr Svetelik;
- Chairman of the Public Council under the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Semen Potashnik;
- CEO of IEC Anatoliy Tkachenko and other honorary guests.
The sectoral exposition "Fuel and Energy Complex of Ukraine" was represented by the energy companies operating in the segments of power generation and transmission as well as energy resources extraction, processing and supply, namely Ukrenergo NEC SE, Ukrhydroenergo PJSC, Donbasenergo PC, Energoatom NNEGC SE with its separate units: Zaporizhzhya, Rivne, South Ukrainian and Khmelnitsky NPP; Eastern Mining and Processing Plant SE; Nuclear Fuel State Concern and others.
The trade fair "Power Engineering for Industry '2018" reflected the structural reforms and transformation processes of Ukrainian power engineering sector, bringing production and business processes of the enterprises to a higher technological level step by step. The leading domestic and foreign manufacturers of the latest technologies and efficient electrical and power equipment for power plants, substations, high‑voltage transmission lines, distribution electrical grids, and large industrial power supply systems took part in the trade fair.
Simultaneous holding of the trade fair "ELECTRO INSTALL", which presented the latest low‑voltage products and electronics, as well as the trade fair "Energy efficiency. Renewable Energy" significantly expanded the exposition of electrical equipment and energy efficient technologies. The exhibitors presented a wide variety of products for electric power generation, conversion, transmission, distribution and consumption that are able to provide high efficiency, quality and reliability of power supply, reduce the load in power grids, optimize energy costs.
This year the exposition impressed with a variety of interesting ideas and solutions on design and construction of stands, as well as their information content and a wide presentation of full‑scale samples in use. Modern equipment, devices, technologies, developments, representing market and technical innovations were presented at the trade fair. Quantitative and qualitative composition of participants and visitors, increasing exposition area showed significant growth dynamics. In addition, the exhibitors noted that the International Exhibition Center is the most comfortable and convenient place for the trade fair holding taking into account the infrastructure and location.
According to exhibitor feedback surveys 98% of respondents consider the possibility of participation in the next year's event.
Participants of the trade fair "Power Engineering for Industry '2018" shared their impressions about the exhibition event and plans for the future:
Andrii Maksymets, Director of Phoenix Contact in Ukraine, said, "Our official representative has been active on the Ukrainian market since 2005, we are the official importer of the full range of Phoenix Contact products." He noted that at the trade fair they presented the novelty ‑ automation systems for power engineering in accordance with IEC 61850 standards, those were controllers, systems of input‑output modules and bus couplers for digital support of Ukrainian energy system and power substations. He said about the trade fair, "We participate in the trade fair "Power Engineering for Industry '2018" for the first time and we are satisfied with the quality of the contacts that we managed to get. We hope that the event will prosper and the number of visitors will grow."
Oleksii Balaba, Director of Energy Production and Service Department of Siemens Ukraine, told about the trade fairs "Power Engineering for Industry", "ELECTRO INSTALL" and the International Forum. "It is the significant event which is held annually in November to show advanced solutions of key companies ‑ the international players who offer the most important solutions for Ukrainian energy market." He noted a very good initiative of the organizer such as the presentation of solutions at the DEMO‑area.
Volodymyr Dryomov, Director of Sicame Ukraine, welcomed the guests of the trade fair and noted that Sicame Ukraine took part at that event not for the first time. He said, "This year there are more our customers here, more of our colleagues are exhibiting. We are very pleased to present our innovative solutions for Ukrainian power grids. These are connectors with low transition resistance, cold shrink couplings, solutions for rigid busbars of substations, as well as special software for electrical grids automation."
Lesia Serzhan, Commercial Director of RELSiS, told that the company created the microprocessor automation devices for industry, also she named their main consumers, among which there were industrial enterprises, power supply and generating companies and other enterprises that used RELSiS's devices as a part of their products. She said about the trade fair, "For the last five years we observe how the trade fair "Power Engineering for Industry" has been expanding, attracting more and more visitors, so we are interested in participation at your area."
Oleksandr Lyashenko, Marketing Manager at Radiy, Research and Production Corporation, said that the company was engaged in control, protection, fire systems, production and manufacturing of LED lighting and development of automated protection control systems for nuclear power plants. He told, "We have been participating at this trade fair from the very beginning. I am grateful to the organizers of this trade show. Having participated for more than 15 years, we managed to find a lot of colleagues and clients who were interested in our technologies. We are going to participate in the trade fair again, because its high level is noticeable, and it is not only my opinion, but also my colleagues."
Mantas Nashlenas, Head of the International Energy Cluster, presented the cluster of Lithuania and Ukraine. He also said, "We are pleased to participate in this trade fair, because it is a splendid opportunity to introduce ourselves to the energy sector companies, as well as to present our Cluster."
Mykhailo Bubnov, General Director of Schneider Electric Ukraine, said, "It's nice that we have been participating in "Power Engineering for Industry" for several years, the trade fair has changed a lot in recent years. Earlier it was a specialized electrical engineering exhibition event, but now it is focused on solutions for mining, power and petrochemical industries that are the main sectors which are important for development of Ukraine. New technical solutions from Schneider Electric can make a great contribution in the sector of energy management and automation, as well as energy saving. We are planning to participate in the next trade fair, it is growing, its applied orientation is visible."
Andrii Vorotyntsev, Sales Manager at Vertical Lim., noted that the company had been engaged in innovative developments in power engineering sector for over 25 years. "Our company manufactures high and low‑voltage frequency converters. We manufacture production that covers all interests of industrial enterprises. We were the first who developed a frequency converter on the basis of IGBT transistors in the CIS. It is not the first time that we participate in the trade fair. Every year the trade fair shows very good results with lots of new meetings, new contacts," he told.
Lilia Kislitsyna, Marketing and Strategic Development Director of the production company Ukrainian Cable Systems, said, "We are the domestic manufacture. We produce everything for cable laying in Kramatorsk. At this trade fair we participate to find new customers, to show everything we can, to present ourselves and also to push up sales. I'd like to thank the organizers for the very cool organization and wish next year more domestic producers take part in the trade fair, because the success of Ukraine is in domestic producers.
Aziz Ismailov, Head of the Export Department of Uzelektroapparat‑Elektroshield JSC, said that the plant's history dated back to 1942. "Now we produce a wide range of electrical products, these are low‑voltage and high‑voltage equipment, complete transformer substations. We produce a wide range of power transformers. We participate in the exhibition event of electrical products in Ukraine for the first time and consider Ukraine as a reliable trade and economic partner. I would like to thank the organizers because the trade fair is useful, saturated, fruitful, there are a great number of participants, we receive here a lot of useful information about Ukrainian companies, which we regard as strategic partners," he said.
Victor Largin, Head of Marketing Department of Impulse, Severodonetsk Research and Production Association, said, "For about 60 years our company has been manufacturing management control systems for critical facilities. Nowadays 60% of Ukrainian nuclear facilities equipped by our systems. We are very pleased to participate in the trade fair for the fifteenth year. Here we find new customers, share our experience, meet the partners and competitors. It is very useful event that gives a new impetus to further development."
covered a wide range of issues on the fuel and energy sector. Conferences, seminars, round tables focused their participants' attention on reforming the fuel and energy sector structure, ensuring energy security and efficient operation of power systems, attracting investments, modernization and industry technical re‑equipment. Business events were organized by profile directorates and departments of the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine, public organizations, trade fairs' participants.
Business program events were attended by the leadership of the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry, scientists, government officials and public figures, foreign and Ukrainian experts, executives of national and private companies producing power, electrical engineering, oil and gas and mining equipment, representatives of international investment and financial institutions.
